AI Program in March an "Impressive session"
March 21, 2025
38 teachers of English and Social Studies attended our program “Understanding AI’s Role in the Humanities Classroom” on Saturday, March 15th. UVA’a professors Natasha Heny (Dept. of Curriculum and Instruction), Dana Little (Writing and Rhetoric Program), and Paul Torrey (Dept. of Astronomy), plus Longwood University’s professor Alecia Blackwood (Dept. of Education) shared their expertise on AI and its potential applications in instruction, curriculum planning, student engagement, and much more. Although teachers must navigate through challenges of ensuring academic integrity and appropriate incorporation of AI in classrooms, our surveys showed that attendees left the program feeling much more comfortable using AI in their teaching than before they attended. Many of the participants gave us positive feedback too, as one teacher commented, “I learned more effective ways to incorporate AI in my classroom as well as acquiring additional resources.” And another said, “An impressive session for an introduction to AI for teachers!”
Thank you, to the teachers and our presenters, for coming to our program!
