Congratulations to our beloved Program Coordinator Becky Yancey and her son, Scott Abell, Head Coach of the Davidson College football team! Scott was named a finalist for The Eddie Robinson Award, named for the legendary Grambling University coach. The Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) presents this award each year, which is basically the National Coach of the Year award in this Division I college football subdivision (formerly called Division 1-AA). Coach Abell has multiple amazing achievements under his belt, including leading the Wildcats to its first postseason berth in 52 years. Another announcement came on Monday April 26 - coach Abell earned the conference's Coach of the Year award, together with Freshman Defensive Player of the Year Jonathan Hammond on the Wildcats. Coach Abell comments: "The Coach of the Year Award represents our entire staff, team and program. It is truly a team and program award. I am blessed to be surrounded by so many talented and dedicated people." Congratulations to Scott, the Wildcats, and Becky!
