On September 27, thirty-one secondary school French teachers from across the Commonwealth worked with a series of speakers in association with two exhibitions: “The Strange Story Furcy Madeleine” at the Shannon Library and “Haiti’s Time” at the Fralin Museum of Art. The program was sponsored by the UVA-French Center of Excellence and the Center for the Liberal Arts, with funding from the Embassy of France and the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations. Participants gave us enthusiastic reviews such as, “LOTS of resources and accessible & practical ideas of how to implement! SO great!” and “The materials provided opened doors to multiple applications in the teaching /learning of the French language.”
